About the founder

Priyanshu Kumath

With a passion for preserving India's precious water bodies, Priyanshu embarked on a transformative journey after graduating from IIT Bombay. Inspired by the urgent need for sustainable solutions, he pioneered the concept of using artificial floating islands to revitalize and purify precious water sources.

His unwavering dedication led to the successful implementation of multiple floating island projects, including the remarkable restoration of the Nalanda Sarovar in Indore. This pivotal achievement earned him the prestigious Water Hero award by the Jal Shakti Mantralaya, Government of India, as a testament to his commitment to environmental preservation.

Priyanshu's innovative approach transcends traditional conservation efforts, as he recognizes the vital importance of a sustainable business model in tackling the magnitude of India's water crisis. Through Clean Water he seeks to pioneer the RaaS (Restoration as a Service) model for waterbody restoration. The model seeks to not just restore water bodies but also fosters economic growth, striking a delicate balance between environmental welfare and community prosperity.

Driven by his belief in the transformative power of responsible entrepreneurship, Priyanshu Kumath continues to inspire change and shape a more sustainable future for India's invaluable natural resources.

Navigating Water Pollution and Water Scarcity

Navigating Water Pollution and Water Scarcity

At Clean-Water, our unwavering commitment is to combat pressing issues relating to water. With water pollution, scarcity, and eutrophication on the rise, we've stepped up with a solution that combines innovation and sustainability.
Our nature-based, floating wetland systems are at the forefront of this battle. They not only enhance biodiversity but also treat water quality, effectively combating pollution.

How our solutions work

Artificial floating islands function by utilizing plants and microorganisms to treat water in natural and artificial water bodies. They create a unique ecosystem where plants are grown on floating platforms and provide habitats for the local ecology, both above and below the water.

In each island, hundreds of plants and millions of bacteria work together to absorb and remove pollutants like nitrogen and phosphorus from the water, improving its quality. The biomedia included in each island along with the plant roots provide areas for helpful bacteria to form ‘Biofilms’. These biofilms are colonies of helpful bacteria that help break down pollutants and increase the efficiency of the islands as much as 4 to 5 times.

These biofilms are then eaten by other aquatic species such as fish and aquatic insects. The islands also serve as biodiversity hotspots, providing food and shelter to fish as well as nesting spots to above water species such as ducks and geese.

The combined action of plants and microorganisms helps in water purification, reduces algal blooms and other infestations, and fosters biodiversity.

Additionally, floating islands offer aesthetic value and can be customized for various applications, making them a sustainable solution for water quality management.

Clean water provides nature based solutions for water quality improvement and ecological restoration.
