Comprehensive question bank for clients, stakeholders, and cynics.
Yes. Whether the water smells like sulphur / rotten eggs, raw sewage, ammonia / urine, or has a swampy, earthy, or dead-fish smell, we can treat the water — provided it does not contain industrial effluent or other pollutants that are outside our treatment capabilities.
Our formal commitment for odour elimination is within seven days, although at some of our sites we have seen complete odour elimination within 24 hours as well.
The exact solution depends on the cause of the smell. Generally, we combine microbial cultures, aeration, and floating wetlands to address the underlying water quality issues rather than simply masking the smell.
For example, if the smell is caused by ammonia, our microbial cultures help convert ammonia into nitrite, nitrate, and eventually free nitrogen gas, which is safely released into the atmosphere. This reduces the ammonia in the water and consequently eliminates the associated smell.
We can address most of the parameters covered under IS 10500, including all 32 parameters that we typically test for. However, the extent and rate of removal of each parameter can vary depending on the specific water body, its pollution load, and the quantity and quality of water entering it.
For heavy metals, our primary removal mechanism is through the plants used in our floating wetlands. If there is a significant heavy-metal load, we generally recommend increasing the amount of vegetation or floating wetlands.
However, there are certain conditions that are outside our scope. We cannot treat extremely toxic industrial dyes or highly saline / brackish water. We also do not handle industrial effluent as part of our standard water body rejuvenation solutions.
We have solutions for both prevention and existing algal growth.
Our preferred approach is to prevent excessive algae growth in the first place by addressing the underlying causes through microbial cultures, aeration, and floating wetlands.
However, if the algae has already grown extensively and the water has become like a thick green soup, we also have ultrasonic algae-control devices that can help kill the existing algae.
So ideally, we focus on preventing the algae from coming back rather than simply treating the visible algae after it has already become a major problem.
